Turkey Hill Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

There's always been something different about Turkey Hill's version of cookie dough. It's just something that sets it apart, something I can't quite put my finger on ...literally ...I mean, it's all gone, I can't put my finger on something that's been eaten (ok, technically I could, but let's not go down that road)
For the longest time, I just assumed it was the cookie dough that gave Turkey Hill that unique flavor. But, like so many other great flavors, I took it for granted without stopping ...to read the label: "Brown sugar and molasses flavored ice cream swirled with chewy cookie dough and dark chocolate chips." Wow, I've just assumed that everyone mixes cookie dough with vanilla and that's that. Instead, they try and take it up a notch. Now, if you eat just the ice cream without a cookie dough chunk in it, the flavor is VERY mild, almost none existent, but throw in a CD chunk, and all of a sudden you are in a whole new place. I'm sorry to say I can't describe it exactly, but if you love cookie dough, you need to give Turkey Hill's a try.

    1. That is too true. Nowhere near as good as it used to be. I wonder why they changed it?

  2. I have your review to thank for introducing me to this!

I've never tried Turkey Hill ice cream before, and have always been a Ben and Jerry's fanatic, but THIS TH cookie dough ice cream, is the single best cookie dough ice cream on the market!

Even though I would've liked more molasses in the base, once you let the ice cream temper a bit, it tastes EXACTLY like milk that had a chocolate chip cookie soaked in it, or leftover Cookie Crisp cereal milk!

And the chocolate flakes melt in your mouth, not stab you in the teeth like all the competitors including Ben and Jerry's with their huge obnoxious chunks.

The cookie dough itself is plentiful and super gritty, and it's all so perfect! Other "cookie dough flavored" bases taste like toffee, not cookies.

This one actually tastes like cookies. It is my new favorite ice cream.

  3. Glad you enjoyed it!

I will make a quick note since you mentioned that the base could be a little stronger: it actually use to be but it seems to have become a bit more mild nowadays

  4. Just found this review after looking up if anyone else noticed they changed the recipe…

No more brown sugar and molasses base. No more melt in our mouth chocolate shavings. No more soft and nicely gritty cookie dough.

Went from my favorite flavor to just like everyone else :(

    1. I totally agree that the changes make it blah. That was my favorite ice cream too, I literally raved about the brown sugar and molasses base, it made their cookie dough ice cream stand out as the BEST one on the market. Now, it's just boring and lackluster and I'm so sad.

    2. The old one was my favorite too.. I always got the Ben & Jerry's edible bags of cookie dough and would cut them up smaller and put even more cookie dough in. It was fantastic like this!! Well I was hungry for some & just got it yesterday after not having it for a few months.. Its horrible.. I hope they eventually change it back.. So disappointed.. ☹️

  5. Glad I'm not the only one feeling this way about TH cookie dough. Very disappointing. I used to take freezer fulls home to Florida with me in my rv. Not any more.

  6. I absolutely hate the new recipe. This has been my favorite since I was a child and it's leading me to try different brands and flavors.
