Moose Tracks Ice Cream from Uhlman's

You shouldn't be surprised by now, but yet again Uhlman's presents a wonderful version of the flavor known as "Moose Tracks". As far as I know, the Moose Tracks name is a registered trademark, so we'll have to assume Uhlman's is using Moose Tracks Fudge and their peanut butter cups.

First off, let me say this presentation puts the recently tested Turkey Hill Chocolate Nutty Moose Tracks to shame. We're talking night and day difference. Not that the Turkey Hill stuff was bad, but in retrospect, it could have been so much better.

Ok, let's dig in. So, we have our standard vanilla base, a wonderful moose tracks fudge swirl, and the perfect scattering of tiny peanut butter cups. The fudge is hard to describe, it seems like a mix of chocolate syrup and cocoa mix. Usually, you bite a swirl and it's a nice clean break. The great thing about this swirl was, as you eat it, the swirl blends in with the rest of the ice cream. Give it a lick, and your vanilla ice cream is now well blended with the fudge. I've never seen a fudge swirl do that before, I was totally amazed. Granted, fresh ice cream has the benefit of being the perfect temperature for this to happen, but still, it was great to see (and taste) in action. The swirl was also perfectly blended throughout the ice cream. Only at the very end did I discover a small puddle of fudge at the bottom of my cone, and that is when I finally discovered how strong the taste of the fudge really was by itself.

As if that wasn't good enough, the peanut butter cups they use are near perfect, or in other words, I've never had better. Just smaller than a dime, these little bad boys explode with peanut buttery goodness when you bite them. The layer of chocolate is just thick enough to hold about half of the cups together, the other half are broken up and scattered through the ice cream. As you bite, the vanilla ice cream, fudge swirl, and mini peanut butter cups blend perfectly together in your mouth.

Why can't all ice cream be made with this level of perfection? I don't know. Awesome job Uhlman's, yet another satisfying flavor to review.
