Brigham's Just Jimmies Ice Cream
vanilla ice cream with pieces of chocolate covered ice cream cones
and loaded with chocolate jimmies!
We made a quick trip to Shaws and rather than Bringham's being down near the bottom, this particular Shaws has moved it way up high. I glanced over as we walked through the freezer section. At first I was semi-tempted by their Big Dig flavor, but next to that was Just Jimmies. Hmmmm, sound's very interesting.
It's been a long time since I've had Brigham's. It's not that the flavor or texture is bad, I guess it's mainly because of the cost. It's cheaper than H-D or B&J, but more expensive than the main stream brands: $4.29 for a quart to be precise. To be honest, I don't think I've had Brigham's since freshman year of college. I didn't have a freezer that first year, so their pints we're just the right size to avoid having dinner in the cafeteria.
To celebrate this 'momentous' return to Brigham's, I took the seal off the fresh container of Just Jimmies and scooped out a couple of servings into waffle bowls for my daughter and myself. Verdict? It's good. There are a ton of jimmies mixed in a nice quality base vanilla ice cream. It actually has a cookies and creme flavor to it, not exact, but similar. My only complaint would be that the sugar cone pieces get stuck with that stale feeling. Not awful, but not fantastic either. They aren't super abundant, but you get a half decent scattering of them.

I have never heard of this company but I love the name and the simplicity of just jimmies as the mix-ins because it's totally unique! Plus, I love that they call the mix-ins "jimmies" because too many people incorrectly call them "sprinkles"!
ReplyDeleteit's all about location, jimmies is a northeastern thing (you can also run with the argument that jimmies are chocolate and sprinkles are colorful).
DeleteBrigham's is a Massachusetts based company that doesnt reach outside the northeast really.
