Meola's GrahaMa Meola Ice Cream
Labels: graham - local - review - scoop_shop
It's been a long time since I stopped at Meola's Ice Cream on Route 12. It's a beautiful day, and I was already out and about, so I couldn't resist an excuse to stop for ice cream. To really make things interesting, the sign out front says "GrahaMa Meola freshly arrived" or something to that affect anyway. Fantastic, that's the flavor I wanted to try the last time I was here.
Now, we've probably all tried an ice cream that has had graham crackers in it, but have you ever had one that set out to be graham cracker flavored? I wish I had a camera with me, but alas words will have to do: I was presented with a respectable "small" sized cone filled with a tan colored ice cream. I could see huge streaks of crushed graham cracker, very similar to the kind you would find in a pie crust. There is also a mild/decent scattering of chocolate covered graham pieces mixed in.
I find a shady spot (with a nice breeze) and dig in. The good news is that the ice cream really was nice and fresh, no freezer burn like the other samples that I've had from here. There is no mistaking this is graham cracker flavored. It's quiet potent, not awful, but you definitely feel like your chowing down on a pie crust here. The chocolate bits don't add much, it's just all about the graham. The consistency was good as I continued to hit graham throughout the entire cone.
Verdict? Is graham flavored ice cream unique? definitely!
Buy Again? It's well made, but I think I'm good for awhile.
