Blue Bunny's Berry Me, Please! Ice Cream

I couldn't help myself when I walked by the cleverly titled "Berry Me Please!" from Blue Bunny. I've been in the mood for berry flavors recently, so that helped too, plus this is a "Critics Choice" Limited Edition flavor. I'm not really sure who exactly these critics are, but let's see if they know there stuff.

See, how can you ignore a flavor that is screaming at you with a giant exclamation point?!?!?! hehehehe, but seriously, this limited flavor is "Luscious black-raspberry flavored ice cream blended with a sweet blackberry ribbon and loaded with Marion berry-filled chocolate mini cups". Funny it says cups and not trademark bunnies, but let's dig in to make sure.

Ok, we've got a nice purply black raspberry color, I see only traces of the swirl at this point, and I spy just a few chocolate bits, hmm let's look closer.

Now before we continue, let's remember that Black Raspberry is a very special flavor to me. Whether it's freshly scooped from Friendly's or whether I just spooned it out of a Turkey Hill container, I adore black raspberry, so blue bunny better not mess this one up on me (just teasing, they can mess it up if they want, I just won't forgive them, that's all).

I take my first bites and I'm not sure what to think. Blue Bunny tends to have it's own unique taste, so I need to settle in here to fully appreciate what they are trying to do. The base black raspberry I think is growing on me. It's actually fairly mild. Now the big change over your standard flavor is this blackberry swirl that is, well, it's unique. It's not bad, but it is different, in fact, it's kind of throwing my wife off a bit as we try to quantify how to describe the flavor.

Oh man, I'm done already and I'm heavily debating getting another bowl. One big disappointment here is that in the entire bowl before me, I got just **ONE** bunny, that's it! That is not cool. My wife says she got a few bunnies and some bunny bits, but that is by no means a ton. I didn't even see any more I could grab easy when I scooped my bowl (yeah, I'm the guy who scoops all the good stuff and leaves the ice cream behind, it's why I had to stop eating my wife's cookie dough ice cream). Now this thought is kind of a 50/50, but I'm hoping the bunnies have just sunk to the bottom, we'll just have to wait and see.

On Second Scoop: I just had my second bowl and I must say that overall I like this black raspberry with a twist, or better yet, it's black raspberry with a bit of bite to it. While the swirl continues to be prevalent in the container, I was disappointed that my second bowl was again limited to just one bunny. Oh well, I still enjoyed it. In fact, I was yet again tempted to reload my bowl (though it's not like I put a ton in the bowl to begin with). So I say good job on making something a bit different, and nice job on the catchy name.

On Third Scoop: It finally happened, we're nearing the end of the container and my wife scooped herself a cup full of bunnies. I'll admit it, I was a little jealous at the news!
