Here's the cross section and it's pretty much the same as the Chocolate Chipper (which is a good thing). I dig in and this thing is very tasty. I love how Cold Stone cake seems to be especially designed to freeze well. The ice cream is tasty as always and the fudge shell is a wonderfully thick yet pliable texture (like you would find on a Boston Creme Pie).
I was thinking about the chocolate shavings on the side and they really are a nice touch. First off, they look cool. Second, they are the perfect shape. They are just the right thickness for a real mild crunch, but at the same time, their large shape spreads the crunch out among several teeth so it feels like the whole scopful of cake crunches. Ok, I'm probably putting too much stock into these bits, but at the same time, think about it next time you have some.
Ok, that's it. This treat rocks and that's all you need to know. Wait, ok, I'll make one tiny complaint. I ate one of the candies on top and it didn't really taste like anything.
Verdict? Excellent
Buy Again? We always do!
What was the occasion? I grew up on DQ ice cream cakes, I feel like something is missing if there isn't a cake crunch layer.
