And here's mine
(though the bright summer sun has pretty much washed this picture clean of any details.)
Let me describe it a little better for you. Have you had a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup blizzard? You know how the pb filling spreads out and gives that great, gritty, peanut buttery texture to the treat? This blizzard is that pb goodness spread out to obliterated perfection. Honestly, for pb lovers, it's just that good. In fact, I'm tempted to go back and ask for it with a chocolate base on miracle treat day (which is coming up next Thursday, August 11th). No, no, that's not 100% true. I want to go back and ask for it with a chocolate base... AND a scoop of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups in it.
Now I believe they make this treat by adding a peanut butter creme filling (to flavor the base) and then seperate nutter butter cookie wafers to add a nice crunch to the whole thing. So this is beyond some simple cookie 'n creams creation, this is the total package with a complete flavor that I really enjoyed. I'll be shocked if I don't pick up at least one more of these before the month is done. Awesome job DQ! Thank you for giving peanut butter some much needed love on your menu.
Verdict? PB Excellence
Buy Again? Oh Yeah!
Update: Do not try it with the chocolate base! The chocolate masks the awesomeness of the nutter butters and you will not be impressed. This blizzard is perfect just the way it is!

The trans fats do bug me but this does seem like the perfect blizzard for my very first blizzard. Nutter butters were a favorite of mine when I was little and now knowing the ingredients in them I understand why this has trans fats. I'd deffinately over look it because this seems like such an amazing treat. Now I need to plan a trip to the cloest dq 2 hours away.
ReplyDeleteProbably DQs best idea ever. I think I'd prefer the vanilla base, but respect the chocolate substitute. I'd warn about the PB cups though - there's balance in restraint.
ReplyDelete@Nick: go for it! (and let us know how it went)
ReplyDelete@Rodzilla: it's a great one, but you make a good point, I don't want to ruin it.
I'm glad to hear this was so good because I was planning on getting one this weekend that I was really, really looking forward to. Hearing this, I'm now salivating at the prospect of getting one.
ReplyDeleteNutter Butters are an extremely underrated cookie and I'm hoping that Dairy Queen has so much success with this one that they make it a permanent menu item.
At least the States has a good flavour, not like Canada and it's lacklustre Rolo blizzard!
ReplyDeleteI love nutter butters in ice cream! Every time I get ice cream, I think back on getting those mixed into some Mexican Vanilla ice cream at Amy's in Austin...
ReplyDelete@Dubba,
ReplyDeleteMan, that looks good. My nearest DQ is about an hour away, but I may finally break my blizzardless streak (I think it's been about 12 years) to grab this one!
@Nick,
Yea, it's a bummer about the trans fat, but go for it. Regardless of what you read on the web, you will, in fact, wake up this next morning :)
Waaaaa craving for ice cream!!!! Blizzard is one of the best ice cream I've ever tasted, so awesome!!!! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI need to try this!! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDelete@Adam,
ReplyDeleteAha yeah I feel they're unnecessary but seeing as I've haven't had a nutter butter in years I feel like I'll be taking a 2 hour long trip to dq before this month ends. A little trans fats won't kill me=]
@IE: not sure why nutter butters don't get any love, they've always been great.
ReplyDelete@Anon: is the DQ rolo blizzard better than the McD version?
@Adam: an hour is nuttin'
@DoD: go for it!
@Nick: 2 hours? road trip! bring friends!
@Dubba,
ReplyDeleteI was planning on it. Once I decide when I'm going I'll be sure to let you know my opinion on it=]
For all you that want to give it and/or are more curious about it, we'll have a review at wouldibuyitagain.com of it that goes up tomorrow (August 8th). More pictures and more goodness. Dubba was not wrong when he said this one was awesome!
ReplyDeleteJust finished eating this blizzard and holy moley was it amazing! Dubba, I was talking to the owner whose had the DQ in town for over 60 years and he said they ran out of ingredients for this one in the first 3-4 days! Thank God I waited! Last month's and this months were by far the bext DQ has come up with...couldn't help but think what would happen if I mixed the Triple Choc. blizzard with this treat!
ReplyDelete@Danielle: hehehehehe, nice idea! Though your brain might explode from the awesomeness of the combo.
ReplyDelete@Everyone: don't forget, miracle treat day on Thursday. I'm going with another Nutter Butter blizzard, but debating if I should add anything in.
Next friday I'm taking my trip to dq. I'm so pumped aha.
