Wow, it's been a long time since we had official
Sunday Sundaes, or as my daughter has officially renamed it, Sundae Sunday. She busily got to work on the decorating and preparing while her brother slept and her mom finished off a errand. It took a little while to get everything in place and basically we either had a really late snack or a really early ice cream dinner. I'm not sure which, but does it really matter?
The day was fairly busy considering it's a Sunday. We headed out in an attempt to enjoy the New England Summer Nationals. My daughter kept asking "where are all the cars?" The show runs Thursday to Sunday, but apparently a lot of people already headed home. My son was more excited than my daughter, but his version of checking out a car involves quickly turning his head towards the car as we walk by it. Oh well, it's ok, we'll come back when you are older.
We left after about an hour and headed to the grocery store. I wonder what they have
in store for us....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Apparently Nabisco was jealous of Keebler doing the Cars and Spiderman tie-ins and has decided to do their own. I can't tell you how excited my son was, he pretty much hugged the box the whole time we shopped. Big thanks to Nabisco for making these. I really didn't want to have to tell him yet again "sorry bud, these aren't safe for you to eat".
Here's a parenting tip for you. If you have two kids, you let each one pick a pop-tart flavor, then they don't fight... hehehehe... ok, that was just an excuse so we could try these funky new pop-tarts. I'm intrigued and a little afraid at the same time (I bet you didn't realize that most pop-tarts are allergy friendly).
I'll admit it, I've been one of those nay-sayers who thinks this product is for people too lazy to break up their own cookies... I mean, two bucks for 8 measly ounces of cookie chunks? I can do this any day of the week.... but my daughter really wanted to have a sundae party today, so I gave in and picked up the Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies variety (and left the Oreo-like version at the store). I believe these are new for 2012. We were at Market Basket, but I see them all the time at Target in case you want to try them.
I know I should have taken a picture of them on our sundaes, but there was a small and messy debacle after we realized the whip cream had expired. Thankfully we didn't give up that easily and these were my favorite part. The tiny shape packs lots of crunch and flavor and I totally enjoyed their crunch way more than that of our sprinkles or chocolate chips. I ate a handful to try and nail down the flavor and I guess they kind of remind me of those old McDonald's mini chocolate chip cookies they use to sell. They're good and I totally recommend getting these next time you see them.
