It is one of the greatest combinations in the sweet and salty world and one of my favorite food combinations as well. So it was pretty easy for me to pick up this container of Edy’s Maxx Chocolate Peanut Butter Chunk.
These Maxx containers are really eye catching and I like the overall design of them. There is one flaw though; there is absolutely no description of what is actually going on inside the container. What happened to the good old days when there would be a nice little description? It’s either something way too long and dragged on or it’s just not there at all. From my awesome observational skills, I’m just going to go with it being chocolate ice cream mixed with peanut butter swirls and chunks of chocolate like I've experienced in their other varieties. Let’s see if my assumption is right, shall we?
if you think this photo is bad...
you should have seen the others
Now getting a scoop with all of the three components together and it literally tastes exactly like a Reese's peanut butter cup. I know that Breyer’s makes a Reese’s ice cream which I have tried and this one is hands down the better one. Heck if it wasn't for the chocolate chunks this would have the same exact texture of a reese’s cup as well. Okay maybe the texture would be backwards because the chocolate ice cream provides the grittiness of the peanut butter in a reese’s cup and the peanut butter swirl adds the creaminess element of the chocolate shell. Suffice to say, this stuff is really good. On their own, these three components are just average but once they’re combined they make for the perfect teaming of sweet and salty. I really can’t think of anything else to say besides good job Edy’s, you did the peanut butter and chocolate combination well.
Verdict? IT TASTES LIKE A REESES CUP!
Buy Again? The caps say it all.

Nick, I would really like to see the worst photos. Actually, I wish you guys would do a special entry where you post the top ten or twenty grossest ice cream photos you have.
ReplyDeletehahahahaahaha, I can honestly say I hadnt thought to create such a post
ReplyDeleteI agree! DO IT!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I normally delete the non-review photos but I guess I'll have to start saving the exceptionally terrible ones.
ReplyDeleteHave u e ever tried Turkey Hills chocolate peanut butter cup. I know Dubba has reviewed it, but was wondering your opinion . It's my favorite peanut butter and chocolate ice cream
ReplyDeleteOh man I haven't had that flavor in awhile. I agree that is one of the best peanut butter/chocolate ice creams I have ever had. Now I feel the need to go buy a carton of it.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know: Do you think this is better than Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter World?
ReplyDeleteI've never actually had peanut butter world but to be honest I doubt this would be better. That one has a chocolate cookie swirl and I'm a sucker for B&J's cookie swirls. Wow I just realized I haven't tried any of the Target exclusive flavors, I need to go fix that soon.
ReplyDeleteThe target brand chocolate peanut butter ice cream is the best I've had except for baskin Robbins which is the best. They key to eating the dreyers maxx ice cream is to save the chocolate chunks for when you're done with the ice cream ( this sounds gross, but as I'm eating it, I spit the chocolate chunks out in the lid, while I Ethan the ice cream) if you wait until then, the chocolate softens up, and melts in your mouth. It's really awesome chocolate! Try that method and I guarantee you'll enjoy the chocolate chunks more!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this much back in Summer 2014. Too bad only two of these were left in the store.
