HEHEHEHE, I don't know why, but this makes me happy.
CinnaMunch Cinnamon Cake on the left, CinnaMunch Vanilla on the left.
I wound up eating these way too quick on the first scoop... or in other words, I have no idea why I ate them side by side. I just wound up confusing everything. I wasn't really picking up anything special going on, like I totally missed the cinnamon cake batter flavor. That means we need to try again.
On Second Scoop: I started the second scoop with the cinnamon cake version. The first few bites are dominated by the peanuts, but after that, you do detect a very mild cinnamon bun flavor going on. Nothing fancy, more like a cereal type interpretation of a cinnamon bun. It's not a bad treat, drumstick's frozen dairy dessert texture isn't offensive, and as always, the cone is nice and crunchy.
After a few hours I went back for the vanilla version (twice... I was hungry... and they're little!). Yet again there are minimal peanuts on top since apparently the praline process is too expensive. Now I don't know if it's the praline peanuts or the caramel, but something is fairly strong here. I usually enjoy these things but it's not really working for me here. I'm getting the crunch I want but not the kind of sweet I'm looking for. There are little black spots in the caramel, not really sure what that means, plus the funk masks any kind of flavoring that might be coming from the vanilla base. So you've got bite on top, bore in the middle, and then a tiny chocolate nugget finish (which is smaller than the nugget in a full size drumstick).
So... I guess I don't really endorse these. It's not a total waste or anything, but with weak base flavors and the funk on the pralined parts, I wouldn't feel left out if you miss picking these up. It's always good to see experimentation, but that doesn't mean I have to love it.
Verdict? Ok
Buy Again? Nah

It's a cool idea and def would've caught my eye as well. Too bad it wasn't as tasty on the taste buds!
ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting! It's definitely one I would buy if I saw it in the UK. Sadly, cinnamon is quite a rare flavour here for ice cream. It's a shame they weren't that tasty as they look so good!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the full size version will be a bit better!

I got these from my local super market. The first thing I notice as one was unwrapped - Was the distinct smell of "basement". You'd know what I mean if you had on under your shnozz'. Then I licked, and the flavor I was presented with was pure, and simple - It was wood. This comes from super who would eat just about anything.
ReplyDeletesounds like you got one very old sample!
