So, after my daughter's ankle checkup, well, my hungry side thought that maybe we weren't THAT far from Baskin-Robbins. One little problem though... between the crazy weather and the holidays, the new flavor hadn't arrived yet. I was bummed and wasn't sure what to do. The very nice employees asked how far we had come, mulled it over for a second, then suggested trying Peppermint Bark in the Dark because it's really good. Ok, I've come this far, so why not?

Looks good, doesn't it? (click for a larger image if you dare!)
Oh, and there's one more thing I need to mention. It was the end of the day and the store was really quiet, so my server says something like "don't worry, you'll get your money's worth". He turned away from us for a few minutes and came back with the gigantic serving you see above. Yeah, that's a double sized cup. Notice how the ice cream is about 1.5 times big then the cup, and the entire base is chuck full of ice cream. This could probably feed three people, maybe four because remember this is premium ice cream we're talking about.
As if you couldn't guess, the employees were right, this flavor is really good and if you happen to see it still hanging about, try it (or just hold tight til next year). The base chocolate is nice, the gooey, puffy peppermint swirls are tons of fun without being overpowering, and then there's one more secret weapon here.
The abundant peppermint bark bits really do seal the deal on this flavor. They might look solid or crunchy, but don't be fooled, they texture is more more akin to a thin mint chunk. They really did a nice job here and even now I'm still happily recalling how well balanced this flavor was. It was true without smacking me across the face.
Verdict? great holiday flavor
Buy Again? ofcourse!
