Breyers BLASTS! Raspberry Creamsicle
Vanilla Frozen Dairy Dessert with other natural flavors and raspberry sherbet
I know, I know.... but I couldn't help myself. It seems rare to find anything new that has anything more than a raspberry swirl to it, so I just had to try it. I was there. It was there. It went in the cart and that's that.
As I scoop myself a bowl, I'm a little shocked I bought this...
Too late now though, let's give this low fat "treat" a try....
The good news is that it's not bad. Sure I've set my expectations pretty low, but it's not bad at all. The FDD and sherbet seem pretty happy together. It's putting the cream (soft texture) in creamsicle. At the very least, it's better than that foolish icy nestle raspberry & cream bar I tried last year.
Hmmm, not sure what to say, it's soft and has a sweet flavor. Sometimes you get a fair about of raspberry sherbet and it dominates the bite a bit more, so technically I prefer the creamier, mixed bites, but in a flavor like this, the diversity can keep you mildly amused and scooping for that next bite.
There is a little pop of something that is throwing me off, but for what it is, and for what it's trying to be, I can't complain. I wanted a raspberry creamsicle and I got raspberry creamsicle. I pick on a lot of these flavors for their long ingredient list or not living up to their name, but you get what it says, and I won't fault them for that. If you want to try this one, go for it.
On Second Scoop: Ok, so the whole family has tried this, and we've got no complaints. My daughter gave it a big thumbs up, and my wife likes it too. It's fun, it's different, and I'll probably wind up buying this one again. I like seeing new sherbet treats and this is a neat way to get one on shelves.
Verdict? fun
Buy Again? sure
I almost picked up the new Breyers Sara Lee Strawberry Cheesecake flavor today, but couldn't do it as I've been burned by Breyers far too often.
ReplyDeleteMaybe chunks of actual raspberry creamsicles will give it texture?
ReplyDelete@Anon1: I've lost with breyers but these last few haven't been bad at all
ReplyDelete@Anon2: noooo! this one definitely doesn't need chunks!
I didn't care for it. I guess I was looking for a stronger (tangier?) raspberry taste here. This raspberry creamsicle is much too mild a flavor for my palette.
