Edy's / Dryer's Outshine Fruit & Veggie Bars
Strawberry Rhubarb - Tangerine Carrot - Blueberry Medley
Now besides this medley pack of 1.5 oz bars, you can also buy 6 packs of 2 2/3 oz bars of individual flavor. The single flavor boxes also feature the flavors Apple & Greens and Peach Mango Medley. I mention this because there was no way I was blowing my hard earned cash on just one of these flavors. I knew these would be a long shot and the medley box was the only way to go for me.
If you know me, you know I started with the strawberry rhubarb. I thought it smelled normal, but then I wasn't so sure. Ok, trying to extract some flavor... ahh, I give up, crunching time... oh, there's a weird vegetable finish to that, kind of like I just had celery or something. I'm thinking these are kind of flavorless... Mmmmm, frozen celery..... please tell me this thing is packed full of vitamins.... ahhhh, I'm getting use to it near the end here. Still mild and boring, but... no, wait, there's that weird after taste again. Meh.
My son said I should try "the red one" next... he was mistaken. It's blueberry, but it's not...granted blueberry has never been my thing, but, it's more....vegetable-ish. Like a beet flavor or something. I'm trying to proceed but I can't. Sorry, in to the sink it goes.
Alright, I still need to try tangerine carrot.... I like tangerines, I like carrots... but it smells awful... kind of like a mango smell, but worse. Ohhh, don't make me do it... (taste taste taste)... fans of tropical treats should be ok with this one, but I am not. I managed to not throw this one away, but I'm all done after this one. I don't get why there isn't more tangerine flavor (sorry for being so anti-veggie).
On Second Scoop: This box is gonna be a wash for me, I'm not trying any of these again, but my daughter had a strawberry rhubarb one while I was taking pictures and summed it up well. "I've had better... but I've had worse".
Final Note: I managed to finish the strawberry ones, think I'll toss the rest.
Verdict? too much veggie flavor!
Buy Again? not a chance
When will they learn that combing fruits and veggies in dessert does not work?!
ReplyDeleteha! I never should have gotten my hopes up that they might taste like those Mott's Medleys Fruit Snacks http://www.motts.com/products/40/
ReplyDeleteAt least V8 fusion juices are really good. I love these. I wonder why not V8 comes out with fusion popsicles.
ReplyDeleteI can see these used in recipes like the carrot tangerine in carrot soups or butternut squash soups.
I was thinking the same thing about the V8 Fusions. Unfortunately for you Dubba, these did not compare! Again your daughter steals the show with her wise words!
ReplyDeleteI tried tangerine carrot and loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love them, but I thought they would be good for me, my grandchildren too. Guess what, not so good, sorry folks. Read the ingredients. Not a natural sugar like a Stevia, its Aspartame, but name has change to Aceulfame, same thing, bad stuff. How does the FDA approve this chemical to be used in our foods knowing it causes problems? I won't buy this product again!! Read the ingredients when a product says "NO SUGAR ADDED", its probably this poison.
ReplyDeleteI've only had the Tangerine/Carrot bars. They're delicious, but maddening; I can't eat them fast enough to keep them from dripping on my fingers, table, lap, and floor. I make sure not to let m keyboard get underneath.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the tangerine carrot bars. I don't get "veggie taste" at all. In fact, I think these are the best juice bars I've ever had. Apparently one of the "Anonymous" posters tried the ones with awful artificial sweeteners because the regular ones have sugar, not artificial junk.
