Yuengling's Root Beer Float Ice Cream

Ever since I spied these new Yuengling pints at Stop & Shop (Giant), I've been debating which one I should try to show off the new form factor. Well, the mood (and the sale), finally hit today and I decided to try...

Yuengling's Root Beer Float Ice Cream
"Traditional Old Fashioned Root Beer Float"

Every now and then, I've had this combo as a sherbet, but never as a straight up ice cream.... you know, I think I like it better as a straight up ice cream. I usually get more bored as I scooped those sherbets but here I think I'm actually settling in to it.

I haven't really been in to root beer since college (Barq's has bite! Mug don't!), but iunno, it's kind of comforting. There's a neat lingering root beer flavor on my tastebuds and I just find it fun. I almost think there's a little bit of carbonation to going on, though I realize that's just my mind messing with me (right??).

Now, I will admit that the root beer flavor does kind of give off this sense that the ice cream is a little watery, but I don't mean that in the bad way, I swear. It's just instead of a milky vibe, you get a soda vibe when it melts on your tastebuds. It's different, but not meant as a slight.

I'll be honest, I wasn't real sure I would like this, but it's nice and easily the best root beer float flavor I've had. It's all natural, it's fun, and I'm glad I picked it up.

On Second Scoop: Yuengling has a nice way of dialing in certain flavors (much like their pumpkin and peppermint flavors) and they've done that again here. It's balanced, it's straightforward, and it's not off putting. Well done folks.

Verdict?  nice take on a rare flavor

  1. Dubba, does Stop & Shop have the same deal that Giant does this week? Giant is running a special deal buy a Turkey Hill ice cream & get one of their brand for free.

  2. I would suggest a better idea to swirl the flavors instead of blending. So get that vibe of fusion

  3. @Anon: it's similar. ours is buy one container of Hood and get a free container of the store brand.

@Alek: I've been down the swirled road before, it's not as exciting as you think. I'd rather have the flavor balance than the visuals.

  6. I agree with Aleksandr that a swirl would have been much better.
