Cold Stone Creamery Strawberry Dessert Topping

Now I spied the following product not too long ago but was unwilling to make the jump at $5.99 despite my urge to add a nice strawberry sauce to my sundae making supplies. Well, I was back at the store recently and low and behold it was on sale for $3.99. Yeah, I can try it at that price.

Cold Stone Creamery Indulgent Strawberry Dessert Topping

The sauce definitely has a great look to it. I can see all kinds of strawberry bits and it's the right consistency. It's not too thick, so it's somewhat runny but not too runny.

Flavor wise it's pretty potent. I poured it out enough so that it looked good visually, but the reality is I could have went with half as much and gotten the right flavor balance. It's got a good strong strawberry flavor and there is some sweetness, but there is also a bit of bite. I'll definitely have to be more careful next time. Sometimes you'll take a bite and get a bit of zing with it. This isn't a slight so much as a plot point.

That's it. This is very much a classic strawberry sauce. It's what you expect when you go to a nice ice cream buffet. It's not some silly sugar goo colored red, it's a nice spreadable sauce to keep on hand for sundae sunday.

On Second Scoop: Yeah, this stuff is nice. I mean, it tastes like real strawberries because that's the first ingredient on the list. I'm actually chowing down on some right now on top of some Hood Mystic White Gold ice cream and the combo is actually pretty great. I will just reiterate the point that this is not a mild sauce, it is potent and full of flavor. Thumbs up.

Verdict?  Tasty
Buy Again?  yeah

  1. Good to know. I've never seen it before, but I want to try it. I've never seen a strawberry sauce with strawberries in it. How strange.

  2. would you rather just use real strawberries though?

  3. @Tenko: there are others too, Smuckers for example is a option, or Breyers too.

@Anon: Yeah, true, but I like how a sauce kind of goes everywhere plus you get the flavor without having to bite through a strawberry. Basically you can control how much strawberry flavor you get with each scoop.

  4. Just out of curiosity how does the price match up to other similar products. In my home town I could buy a gallon of decent ice cream for the price of a small Cold Stone. I expect there toppings are probably in the same ballpark

  5. Premium price ofcourse, why I mentioned the "regular" $5.99 price and the $3.99 sale price. I want to say smuckers and breyers are both under three bucks.

  6. I thought you would be giving a negative review but this turned out better! I like using strawberry sauce since it runs all over getting more berry flavors.
