Edy's 100 Grand Ice Cream

[New for 2016] So I have a suspicion about these new candy bar inspired Edy's / Dreyer's flavors that are hitting store shelves. While technically there are "different" varieties, both Buncha Crunch and Mint Crunch seem to be using the similar chocolate covered crispies which would be fine until you check out the description on this next flavor.

That's right, chocolate covered crispies again! But wait, look closely, we've got individual bits instead of clusters. Hmmm, interesting choice there.

I sneak a few bites and it has that familiar caramel cone style flavor that we've all had before. That's the good news. The bad news is I am still saddened that Edy's has taken a step back on texture. So many gummy gums in the mix here.

The whole itty bitty crispies thing is an odd choice. On one hand they are giving me flashbacks to Edy's LOADED caramel cone crunch, but on the other hand they are often tiny which can give them a stale vibe or are they actually a little stale (or not distinctly crispy shall we say).

My back and forths aside, this one ain't bad. The flavor is strong enough to be amusing, though it doesn't really taste like 100 grand (ahhh, another back and forth again!). It's definitely good enough to give it a try if you are interested. Or in other words, I might actually consider buying this one again.

On Second Scoop: I think it's the swirl that's bringing the magic to this one. In particular, if you get a crispie with a bit of swirl, yeah, it's a nice flavor combo. There is just a nice robustness to the swirl that elevates most bites and makes this one worth a try. When it comes to these new candy bar flavors, I guess the third time is a charm!
