Skinny Cow Ultimate Chocolate Sandwich
low fat chocolate ice cream with chocolate wafers
fully dipped in chocolatey coating

Yup, that's pretty small.
The wafers are cake like, the chocolate shell is super thin, and there might actually be less ice cream than wafer. It reminds me of how I love to shove tastykake chocolate cupcakes in the freezer. It even has a similar aftertaste.
I definitely should have eaten it slower, but it wasn't terrible (I really need to stop saying things like that). I wasn't expecting it to be filling or awesome or anything, but it has the potential to grow on me. Yes it's more cake than ice cream, but that's not necessarily a bad thing because it gives us something different.
Ok, I'm going to sleep on it and have another in the morning (or afternoon, we'll see).
On Second Scoop: I didn't wait 'til afternoon, I needed a quick chocolate fix now and this worked pretty well. Size will be an issue for some (not that you couldn't sneak two if you really wanted to) and it's a little dry because of the wafer to filling ratio, but if you've been tempted to try these, I say go for it (as always, wait for a sale if you want). Pretty neat trick skinny cow.
Verdict? not bad at all
Buy Again?
I love these things. The Caramel one's are my all time favorite. Taste like a Hostess Ho-Ho that's been in the freezer. Awesome - - TO THE EXTREME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou recently mentioned that you might consider bringing a couple of other reviewers on so you have more geographical diversity (and it would give you a bit of a break). Are you still thinking about doing that? I really enjoy reading the reviews regularly.
ReplyDelete@TTB: to the extreme?? HA!
ReplyDelete@Anon: yeah, still debating it, need to figure out how to get someone with similar thinking and perceptions/tastes. While I don't expect everyone to agree with mine (and Nick's) opinions, there is a good overlap between his opinion and mine such that you know what to expect from this blog no matter who wrote the review. Does that make sense?
---translation: I'm old, cranky and don't trust anyone :)
9 grams of fat, 4.5 grams of which are saturated fat, and 180 calories doesn't sound like a "lite and fit"/healthier choice to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little confused by the desire for reviewers to have the same tastes. I read this blog for re Jews of different favors and products and would actually find it helpful to have different preferences represented. If anything, it balances it out and we can read your reviews and those of others (and maybe these others would review things you stay away from...coconut, etc.)
ReplyDeleteI could see wanting the same tastes if you were writing under the same name but readers would know it is different people so we wouldn't get confused!!
no no, I didnt explain myself well enough. For example, I like mint much more than Nick and he likes coffee ice cream more than I do. That's fine, that's different tastes. But when I eat a pint of something he reviewed, I can understand where he was coming from. It may not hit me the same way, but I understand his points. Our perceptions line up if not necessarily our tastes. That said, I can read some random blog's review of a certain frozen product and just sit there banging my head on my desk going "NO NO NO NO You missed the point!"
ReplyDeleteTold ya, old and cranky.
P.S. I'm not saying I am better than anyone, I just want to be on the same page as my sidekick(s)
@Stride: yeah, sat fat is high, but you get a bit more protein and fiber compared to 3 Oreos which would be 160 calories, 7g of fat (2g sat fat), 1g fiber, 1g protein.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I meant reviews not re Jews...autocorrect and my failure to proof struck again!
ReplyDeletePick me as a reviewer. I'm highly opinionated, and prone to drone on ad nauseam in my own blog; thetoybox1138.blogspot.com. Plus I love the shit out of ice cream....Just saying.
