Perry's Pumpkin Spice Latte Ice Cream
espresso ice cream with pumpkin spice and cream cheese swirls
Since I'm not a very big fan of coffee flavored ice creams, I made sure that Perry's actually wanted to send me free samples of this one. They said it has a nice balance and thought I should still give it a try, so here goes!
Enough talking, I take a bite and it's actually not bad! I could smell it as it approached my face but there is a light espresso foaminess once it's actually on your taste buds. The light texture of the base is actually a really good delivery method for a flavor like this. I deem it funky.
Let's see if we can get some swirl bites. Neat. It adds a nice complexity but it's specifically adding that complexity rather than trying to dominate the scoop. I don't suddenly taste all pumpkin (or sugar), it just tastes like a more well rounded flavor. I just got some cream cheese swirl and it didn't try to dominate either.
What a clever flavor. Since I don't drink coffee or lattes, I can't compare it to those, but as an ice cream, it's one of the most pleasant and subdued coffee flavors I've tried. It's still a coffee ice cream, but it's more akin to like a half and half mix of a vanilla and jamocha shake. It's in a nice middle of the road place for us non-coffee types. Good complexity, fairly sweet, and the aftertaste is the only place where the coffee flavor really dominates. My biggest question now is whether or not I'll get more pumpkin swirl on my second scooping, I'm pretty confident (hopeful) I will.
On Second Scoop: I really do like this flavor. Yes that's weird for me to say about a coffee flavor. I like the flavor diversity here. Each bite is a bit of a surprise. I actually got two bites that were very pumpkin-y and then overall I'm still pretty easily about to make it through a bowl. Remember, coming from me that is not a slight, it's actually a compliment. I'll have no problem at all getting through my sample quarts. Nice job Perry's.

Hello, I love apple picking the most.
ReplyDeleteThank You!
warm days, cool nights, apple pie and halloween for my kids!
ReplyDeleteWish we had more access to Perry's in NYC, the reviews are always interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part of Autumn is walking through the same park every week and seeing the transition in the foliage, how the leaves fall with each subsequent gust of wind, how the heat and humidity begins to subside and couples sit warmly together. The best season.
I am a little upset I wasn't chosen for your Baskin Robbins Coupons but I figured you had alot of requests. I just Love Ice cream and eat it every day and would review a new daily if I could...anyway...I would love to try this flavor. What is best about fall....All the seasonal Ice cream I wait all year to buy of course.
ReplyDeleteCan I post two? I love candy corn and football! 😀
ReplyDeleteDear Whitney, Lisa, Michael, Shae, and Erin, please send me your email addresses for your entry!
ReplyDelete@Shae: I would love to send everyone coupons but I wound up with 86 entries! So even by going 6x2 on the coupons, I still had 80 people I couldn't send coupons to.
I love tracking down seasonal treats

My favorite part about fall is of course, all the seasonal goodies! I am the biggest sucker for absolutely anything pumpkin flavored (just finished a pumpkin twinkie actually), but I also enjoy the salted caramel mochas and gingerbread goodies, too! I hate how cold it is since it makes me regret eating an entire pint of ice cream (regret, not prevent), but the flavors make it worth it! Would love to win this ice cream!

I thought I was the only one who loved Fall weather!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of fall is when it's just cold enough to need a hoodie, but not a big coat, and walking around the neighborhood looking at the trees changing color and hearing the leaves crunch under your feet while randomly getting that burning leaves smell once in a while. Pure bliss. I look forward to it all year. That and my pumpkin pecan concrete mixers from Culver's :D
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about fall are all the pumpkin flavored things.

Originally from the West Coast. Here in Boston for dental school. Finally getting a taste of the four seasons! I love autumn for its foliage. Makes me more aware of time passing and reminds me to appreciate and savor the sweet things in life, including limited edition fall treats. Huge fan of coffee and pumpkin ice cream and would love to jumpstart the day with this flavor!

The best thing about Fall hands down is the start of a new NHL season.

I love that school is back in session. I can sit back and relax with the kids at school while I can enjoy sampling some new fall icecream flavors.
ReplyDelete@Suna: I need an email address please!
ReplyDeleteThe best part about autumn is getting the fall/winter clothing out (including Sabres gear!) and putting the heated blanket back on the bed as the outside temperature cools...it doesn't get much cozier than that!
ReplyDelete[email address removed]
I love all the pumpkin stuff!
ReplyDelete[email address removed]
I love fall because it finally falls below 90 degrees in the south and I get to steal my kids' Halloween candy.

Fall is the best! Less humidity, storm/hurricane season is almost over, and its the kickoff of a couple of months worth of family and friends and parties! Plus, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal!
