Edy's Slow Churned Vermont Maple Syrup Ice Cream
vanilla light ice cream with 100% Vermont maple syrup and maple toffee pieces
There's definitely a large maple sugar punch to it, so this isn't for people who don't like overly sweet things (but would those people even consider a maple flavor anyway?).
I just got my first teeny tiny toffee piece. It didn't even crunch, it just melted on my tongue.
I think the secret is to not pause between bites. You can start to get use to it, but I had to get up for a second and now I don't want to get back to it.
I will try this on a waffle tomorrow and hopefully that will balance things out a bit. It figures 2016 would go out on a whimper like this. Bring on 2017!
On Second Scoop: Being buried deep in this breakfast sundae definitely took the edge off, but I still can't recommend this one. If you like Edy's and like maple, you'll be fine, but for those of us hoping for a decent year round maple flavor, this one has many flaws.
Verdict? overly sweet, overly chewy
Buy Again? nope
Aww bummer you didn't like it! I thought my first container was just ok- kinda boring- but I just bought it again ant can't stop eating it!!
ReplyDelete@Erin: how were the toffee bits for you?
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame, we need a good mainstream maple flavor!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly I really didn't notice them! They were few and far between but the incredible sweetness of the maple swirls has me hooked. I should work for Edys Slow Churnned department - I seem to be their biggest fan :)
