[New for 2017, Discontinued] Ok, one last pint slice to cover. We've got
Fudge Brownie and
PB Cup battling for the number one spot, the dull
Cookie Dough bringing up the rear, and in the middle we've got...
Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream Pint Slices
vanilla ice cream bars with caramel swirls & fudge covered waffle cone pieces,
covered in a dark chocolate coating with waffle cone pieces
I love that they individualize the packaging on these. It's a must for those of us that keep multiple treats in our freezer. It's also just fun to look at it.
Now I've already had my first one the day I brought these home and the thing that stuck out to me most was that I wanted the caramel to have more of an impact. It was a good treat but I wanted more caramel so that I would really get a nice, complex, sweet treat.
On Second Scoop: I liked these on the first try but I think I enjoyed them even more on the second try. They're a neat snack with plenty of texture and an undercurrent of waffle cone flavor. This isn't a drumstick mind you, it's still chocolate coated (Ben & Jerry's) ice cream, but it's fun and fairly filling. I would still like a bit more caramel sweetness, but it still works just fine. Not sure what else to say that we haven't already said on the other three pint slice reviews. I think the pictures explain this one pretty well. Let's end it with this: which flavors do you want turned in to pint slices next year? I'm hoping they ditch cookie dough, keep the other three, and then add two or three more.
Verdict? good!
Buy Again? yup
S'mores, Chubby Hubby and Milk & Cookies get my vote!
ReplyDeleteRed Velvet Cake- with a white chocolate shell
ReplyDeleteBut man, the cookie dough one looks so good! At least to me, but then again I love their cookie dough pints...
ReplyDelete@Tom: hey, I have no control over your purchases, I'm merely offering a point of reference and reflection. If you happen to buy the cookie dough version, be sure to leave your thoughts on our official review http://www.onsecondscoop.com/2017/02/ben-jerrys-chocolate-chip-cookie-dough.html
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm sorry I guess that came off wrong - I totally trust your and nick's review! I'm just disappointed that they seem to have goofed with my favorite flavor from them :( also, I think a swirled of difference would be cool as a pint slice!
DeleteNew York Super Chunk and milk and cookies get my vote
ReplyDelete@Tom: hehehehe, you weren't the only one who was disappointed. Like shockingly disappointed. It doesnt fit in with the other three at all.
ReplyDeleteI was dissapiinted with Americone dream. I found it bland - the lack of caramel being the problem. I liked cookie dough a lot more than this ... but think Fudge Brownie is the best.
ReplyDeleteHalf Baked = no brainer
ReplyDeleteHey DUBBA! Been listening to The Nosh Show since the beginning and I wanted to ask you, in no particular order, can you name off like 5 of your favorite Ben and Jerry's pints that currently exist?
ReplyDeleteI watched this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbPQhdR99fg and it seems you got more of the mix-ins. I've heard other people had issues in some of the pints with various flavors with the distribution of caramel, peanut butter, etc. This is weird since it isn't done by hand and isn't small batch. stuff like that's expected with talenti, but not unilever.
ReplyDelete@Bunny: You know that Talenti is also owned by unilever right? Secondly, how are you justifying the point that I got more cone mix-ins? That video does not show the inside of the slices at any point but the guy does specifically point out how many waffle cone pieces he sees. And if you are referring to one of the other pint slices, why not leave your comment on the appropriate review?
ReplyDelete@Josh: Hey! I know a lot of people enjoy keeping a mental list of their five go-to flavors for a certain brand but the truth is that's not how I cruise the the freezer aisle anymore. Yes Milk & Cookies is my technical favorite or I might turn to Chocolate Therapy for a chocolate fix, but after that it would just depend on my mood I guess. Or maybe I just have too many flavors floating around my head!
ReplyDeletei didn't know talenti was owned by unilevet! good to know. i wasn't refering to another pint slice, i read a review of a regular pint. I didn't mean to attack you or anything, i just was just pointing out that there may be some inconsistancy.
ReplyDeletesorry, it was a very long weekend and when that happens I tend to get cranky about the particulars. It seemed like you were saying the pint slices were lacking. It definitely lacks enough caramel, but the waffle cone bits are pretty prevalent at least.
ReplyDeleteif anything, it's talenti that has really slipped on the mix-ins front and I wish they would knock it off
I got those. It was 95% vanilla with very few mix-ins. SO disappointed!
