Big Friendly Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich
vanilla ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies and rolled in chocolate chips
Clear wrapper
You know how this tastes? Like it's been in the freezer a really long time. I'm sorry to put it like that, but I don't know how else to describe it. The cookie and the vanilla aren't prevalent enough to override that generic freezer taste. This makes me sad.
I try the cookies by themselves and they just don't have any character. And the chips? Yeah, they have that cheap chocolate chip taste that just doesn't click the way it should. Uggg Friendly's. I hope they taste better next time.
On Second Scoop: I had one on the way to work and as I tend to say with a lot of treats, it's not that it's terrible, it's just that it could have been so much more with a better cookie and better chips. Having milk (or dark) chocolate chips instead of cheap baking chips as well as fixing the cookies would have made these a great treat. Instead, it's going to be a one and done box and I'll go back to either M&M sandwiches or something else. I'll eat them, I just can't love them like I want to.
Verdict? should have been better
Buy Again? nah
I personally like the one called something like 4000 lb gorilla that I get from BJs clubs.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I remember those! 600 lb Gorillas

their website is down so I did a quick google search and apparently they are shut down because of litigation with their ice cream supplier (you can google "How the partnership between 600 lb Gorillas and Mister Cookie Face crumbled"). That's a real shame.
I was really disappointed in these too. The cookies are so dry. My local source for Good Humor sandwiches has discontinued them, presumably for the Friendly's brand. I'm going to have to start looking around for something new.
ReplyDeleteTheir size was OK, but there is no flavor in any of it. No ice cream flavor, no cookie flavor, and the chips did have a little bit of flavor, but not much.
