[New for 2019, discontinued] So what do you do when an ice cream company wants to send you samples of their latest product? You accept ofcourse! I enjoyed the return of
Chipwich last year so it's cool to see them already spicing things up.
Chipwich Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Ice Cream Sandwich
This really does seem like an overly simplistic idea. Just turn everything chocolate and roll in peanut butter chips. You know what though? It works really well! The peanut butter being on the outside makes it strong enough to keep up against all of the other chocolate components.
In other words, I like it, plain and simple. If this catches your interested, or if maybe you are on the fence about it, just go for it, you probably won't regret it. Thanks again to Chipwich for the free samples.
On Second Scoop: I actually shared these with my coworkers who seemed to appreciate them. I've got no complaints (and I didn't hear any from them either).
Bonus Foot Note: Regular Chipwich sandwiches are now available as single serve items at WaWa. I got six... I may have only shared 3 of them.
Verdict? it works!
Buy Again? yeah
Always worries me when companies start doing this. I get they have to expand to roll with the times but I feel alot of companies do one or two things good and then they try to expand and it goes down the tubes. Stick with the originals. They are the best.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fair point, but they seem to have a winner here, so I'm not complaining.
ReplyDeleteDo you know where the Chipwiches are being sold other than Wawa? I recall about twenty years ago finding them at the end of a pier in a little shop in a refrigerated case on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I used to walk to that pier daily just to get a chipwich! I adore them. The new version sounds like it's worth trying if I can find one. I've had other cookie sandwiches, but none compare to my beloved chipwich. I even did not care for the Sonic version.
ReplyDelete@Anne: A regular box of six can be sold anywhere, it's just the individual ones are currently only at WaWa.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this review. I’m glad you liked it. Unfortunately, I could not disagree more. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Chipwich does not discernibly taste like peanut butter OR chocolate—it lacks peanut butter flavor to such an extent that I would believe you if you told me it were coffee or mint flavored. On its own merits, I will concede it’s not the worst ice cream you could have, but in comparison to the original Chipwich it is a true disappointment. I wish they would remanufacture the flavor with a peanut butter center, a REAL chocolate cookie, and a milkier chocolate ice cream.
ReplyDeleteUmmmmm, you get a bad box or something?
