High Road Chocolate Chip Wallops

[New for 2019] So I finally made it out to Wegman's for the first time in a long time. There wasn't really a whole lot of new stuff happening on their freezer aisle shelves, but I had hoped I would find one thing in particular....

High Road Chocolate Chip Wallops

There are four Wallop flavors in all. This one seems like the most appealing and the coconut ice cream in almond cookie dough being the most unique. There's also a mint in chocolate version and a strawberry in peanut butter version which also sound cool.

Having grabbed these in a rush, I didn't realize that there are only four in a package. I assumed four packages, not four wallops. That must mean....

Yup, they're bigger than I expected (not that I had a penny handy for comparison). They aren't huge, but they are decent sized. I saw several people try these on instagram, but the size just didn't sink in for some reason.... I decided to be good and just eat one...

You may find it shocking that ice cream covered in cookie dough is delicious, but it is. Granted, the chocolate shell does do an excellent job of tying everything together, but I had my doubts.... HA! No, I don't think I did.... maybe? I would have been shocked if it wasn't at least amusing, but this is downright tasty.

It only took me four bites to get through the whole thing, but they were four excellent bites. The shell stuck to my fingers a bit, but like I said, you need that burst of chocolate from the shell to really seal the deal here. Ok, I guess technically the shell makes it harder to diagnose the insides, but overall, fun idea.

I think I also expected there to be more contrast between the ice cream and the dough, but to me, on this first going, they kind of blended together. That's not a bad thing. I wasn't trying to over analyze it, I just wanted it in my belly.

I can't wait to have more of these (I will try to stick to one at a time....)

On Second Scoop: I've had three of four now and I still give them the thumbs up. I think the shell is maybe a smidge too dark, but you won't be complaining when you are devouring one of these. Really, the only downside here is that they may be too much of a treat, you know, just a bit too rich for some of us. That said, I can't wait to try the other flavors.

Verdict?  good!
