Ital Gelato Pumpkin Pie Gelato
Does this design amuse you?
Look good? Or are you sad that there are no crust pieces?
Two big first thoughts, they have to do with texture and flavor ofcourse. First, the flavor is pretty strong, there is no denying that they were going for a true pumpkin flavor and not some pumpkin spice wannabe. Second, the texture is.... something. It's gummy but not gummy. Tough might be a better word. It's not that gumminess that is going for that light and creamy vibe. No, it's more robust than that. I want to say rubbery but that sounds mean.
To be honest, I'm not sure how much I really like it. I don't hate it, but I'm certainly not interested in finishing it right now. Everything is just kind of annoying me at the moment.
On Second Scoop: This will sound dumb, but it's almost too pumpkin-y. There continues to be a weirdness to the flavoring. It almost feels like I'm eating pumpkin rind or something and I don't appreciate that. It will point out that it's not terrible, and there are purists out there who would like that true pumpkin flavoring, but I would like to see it paired with a better texture and a little less weirdness (and some pie crust). Your turn now, has anyone tried Ital Gelato before?
Verdict? not terrible but not a fan
Buy Again? not this flavor, but I will try an alternate flavor
Allergy Warning
But the container is perfect. See thru and it is reusable.
ReplyDeleteItal Gel is going to love reading: "tough", "too pumpkin-y?", and "pumpkin rind."
ReplyDeleteWell, I can say this is an inimitable review, Dubba. Also, their ingredients of rehydrated nonfat milk and "sugared egg yolks" are also something I don't know if I will come across again. Very interesting.
@Unknown: Yup, I do dig the container
ReplyDelete@Anon: hopefully the next flavor goes better (or it might be the last one I buy)
