[New for Fall 2019, Discontinued?] Time to dig in to the second of the new Serendipity flavors (provided courtesy of their PR firm). I don't scoop cherry ice cream that often, but I do enjoy it when it's executed well. Let's see if this one can stand out from the crowd.
Serendipity Very Cherry Chunk Ice Cream
vanilla ice cream with cherries and chocolatey chunks
I dig in and while the cherries are plentiful and not icy and the chocolate is a factor, there's a little something weird about the base. It's almost... watered down? Well, not so much that, but a lot of cherry flavors have that neat pop to them, but this one does not.
It's a busy pint for sure. I started with a small scooping and immediately followed it up with a second small scooping. The base is got a respectable density and creaminess, but I am a bit... underwhelmed.
So, it's somewhat enjoyable, but I expected more... nay, I wanted more. I want these flavors to wow me and so far, not so much wow.
On Second Scoop: I dug in again and I'm still looking for that zing. This pint is one step away from greatness. It's busy, the cherries aren't icy, and the base density is good for this flavor profile, it just needs that pop to make this one a hit. I'm not saying you won't enjoy it, I'm just saying it could be better.
Verdict? so close
