To chip or not to chip?

You know how I mentioned never officially reviewing Haagen-Dazs Mint Chip in my other HD post? Well, I've technically never reviewed their chocolate chocolate chip ice cream either! I know I've tried it... I mean, haven't I? Yeah, I'm like 80-90% sure I've had it before.

Thoughts on my first pint: It's good, but I don't love it. I like all the chocolate bits everywhere, but I don't love the base. It's not bad, but it's been some time since I've had it. I've got a pint of plain chocolate, so we'll see how different that is.

(I then proceeded to blow through both pints without writing down any thoughts)

On Second Scoop: After finishing the pint, I missed it and wanted more, so I bought another. And then to be fair, I bought another plain chocolate pint as well. While I am happy to eat either pint, I definitely prefer the chip version, but if you've been hanging out here for a few years, you already know that I do love a good texture with my ice cream. The chips are a fun crunchable size. Not so hard as to be annoying, no so thin or small to be easily neglected. I like that different brands have different chips, and I think you could argue that H-D has some of the better chips on the market --- and someone just yelled "GRAETERS!" at their screen --- but anyway. I enjoyed both of these once I got refamiliar with how H-D does their chocolate flavor.

Parting thoughts: H-D makes good ice cream, so why has their selection been so simplistic recently? The spirits line was a gimmick, but we didn't get anything new to replace it this year. I hope 2022 is more interesting. At the very least, I would love to see a black raspberry based flavor because it's hard to get a good black raspberry ice cream right now. I don't love the flavoring of Talenti's version and Graeters version (with it's giant chips) isn't what I am looking for either. I want a good raspberry flavor that is MAYBE complimented by mix-ins.
