[New for June 2023] As you may have heard today (since it's popping up on both traditional and social media), Jeni's has teamed up with Pop-tarts to release a brand new flavor.

So yeah, they didn't send just one or two pints....
Look close and you'll see that it's a very busy pint in terms of pastry,
but where's the swirl?
So all of that was the good news. Well that and the fact that the ice cream delivery also came with a box of pop-tarts and a challenge to post on social media today (6/22). It's been a few years since I've had a pop-tart and that frosted brown sugar cinnamon pop-tart tasted pretty good this morning (it's always been one of my favorites).
And now for the bad news... usually ice cream deliveries come midweek which is great because I get to work from home. This was not the case with this delivery. It came on Saturday and I unfortunately had to work at a client all day Friday and Saturday and was unable to get to the delivery until almost 10:30pm... which was at least an hour after the ice cream had passed the point of no return.
I tried to make the best of the situation by refreezing the ice cream. The hope was to still make pop-tart ice cream sandwiches for today but unfortunately the texture of the ice cream had totally broken down. One pint was literally a quarter inch lower than the other pint because the air had escaped. I tried my best to use the Icepo to make a decent sandwich from two different pints, but the ice cream just wouldn't stick together anymore.
Yes I was still tempted to eat it, and technically I did steal a few tiny bites from the center of the pint, but I was too nervous to proceed further (keeping in mind that cool food above 40 degrees can develop bacteria).
I wish I had more for you. @icecreambuythepint has given it a pretty good rating, so we'll just have to go with that until I can find this one in the store (probably whole foods?).
Verdict? looks good
Buy Again? I will try to hunt this one down

ReplyDeleteEven after 15 years, I feel like the average number of companies contacting me per year is really just 1 or 2. I've just never been comfortable reaching out to them first, but I am happy when they reach out to me. I honestly don't know if Jeni's will appreciate my honesty here or not, and if they don't reach out again, I'll understand.
I should hope they would understand life happens. Appreciate you as always Dubba!
