[New for 2023] I don't know why, but the most commented post on this blog is the silly Lindy's vs Luigi's battle I did way back in 2010 (you can see it here)... wait, this product suddenly makes sense! Last year, Luigi's debuted 4oz gelato cups, and now here we are with Lindy's trying to branch out of the Italian ice game as well. Luigi's set the bar fairly low so let's try...
Lindy's Swirled - Strawberry
Strawberry Italian Ice with a Creamy Swirl
Modern graphics to get you excited
It basically looks like their regular product.
I take a few bites and it's very mild. Like super mild. At least it's not terrible like those dole whips in the freezer aisle. Granted the dole whip was healthier (in terms of ingredients), but yeah, I would pick this one for sure.
It's called swirl and the box shows swirls....but yeah, it's pretty much completely fused together.
Just not a whole lot to say here. I guess if you like the idea of Italian Ice but want something that's a little more textured, than maybe this is the way to go.
Or put another way, if you like Lindy's in general, I was surmised that you would probably like this too.
We also spied an oranges & cream flavor that I almost bought. I went strawberry first, but then I started thinking that maybe orange would be the more fun summer flavor. After another moment of debate, I went strawberry. Did I make the right choice? I'm not sure.
According to lindyspremiumswirled.com, there is also a root beer float flavor (which I could see working pretty well actually), a pina colada flavor (so pineapple and coconut?), and a mango chili lime flavor! Whoa, Lindy's going for the gusto with that last one. Color me impressed.
*bonus points to Lindy's for their new website as well.
WHOA WHOA WHOA, wait just a minute here. I started getting closer to the bottom and this has been out for a few minutes now and whoa, magic is starting to happen. Not super amazing magic, but this half melted, half Italian ice, half cream slush at the bottom of this cup is pretty fun. Not only has the cream come alive, but the strawberry flavoring has too. I did not expect that!
On Second Scoop: So this isn't amazing, but it really is fun, especially on a hot summer day. I came in from mowing and it was all I could think about. I did let it temper for several minutes so I could jump right to the fun part, and it definitely made a difference. I would try these if they pique your interest!
Verdict? fun!
Buy Again? yeah!
Buy Again? yeah!
Discontinued already
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? I just tried their mango chili lime flavor and it was AMAZING. I guess I'd better save that last one for a special occasion, like mowing the lawn ;)
DeleteBut seriously if anyone knows, please tell me if this is for sure. Thank you!!!๐งก❣️๐ (with a touch of ๐ค)
Did you see a discontinued tag on it at your local grocery store? May I ask which store? It's possible that they decided not to carry it while other stores will continue to carry it.
ReplyDeleteLooking online, there are at least a few grocery store chains reporting it in stock. I think we may just have to wait and see what happens (since the original commenter never clarified). It's unlikely for a product to be cancelled that quick but you never know.
