Magnum Double Gold Caramel Ice Cream Bars

[New for 2023] With Magnum tubs fading in to obscurity (only 3 flavors left here in the states), that means that this Magnum product is probably the only new thing I can cover... and yeah, I may have bought this like six+ months ago and forgot about it. Whoops.

Magnum Double Gold Caramel Ice Cream Bars

Been a little while since I've gazed upon the smaller 2.87oz bars

This is what happens when you leave something in the freezer for several months and then don't let it temper. The caramel layer has crystalized. Look closely and you can see jagged edges where the caramel broke apart rather than stretching.  Sorry, my curious side finds it pretty interesting.

Anyone, it's a beautiful day, so I try to let this one temper a bit as I enjoy the sunshine. I take a few small bites and appreciate just how caramelly this one is.

But there is a catch... maybe it's an off day, but the sweetness is building up and I don't think I'm amused by that. Don't forget that threshold for too sweet is usually pretty high. I hate to break out this word because I haven't heard it in a long time, but I want to say the sweetness is cloying and also starting to annoy me. I want to say that there's just something not right about this sweetness. Weird.

Ok, that's it for now. I'm going to try again in a few days and see if I feel differently about it.

On Second Scoop: Ok, bar number two went better, but to be perfectly honest, I could have just eaten the first half of it and been happy. I decided to finish it (because I didn't have a place to save it), but I think I may break the final bar in half when I have it.

Verdict?  very sweet
Buy Again?  probably
