This was going to be my Christmas day post, but, well, it didn't quite pan out that way. Our whole Christmas schedule got thrown out of whack and I wound up trying this on Christmas but never actually posting about it (though I could have sworn I took notes....). Anyway, let's dive in to the holiday pack that Dolcezza Gelato was nice enough to send over. You've seen Hot Cocoa and Sugar Cookie Dough, so let's dive in to....
Dolcezza King Leo Peppermint Gelato
Dolcezza Coffee & Christmas Cookies Gelato
KLP: Mint gelato with King Leo peppermint candy and dark chocolate
Now for the record, I've been dying to try this flavor since it first popped up on Instagram several years ago. I've come to adore peppermint flavors and I've always wanted to try their take on it, but it was never in any of my local stores.
I had set the bar for this one pretty high in my head, but I'm not disappointed, not even a little. It's exactly as I expected. A great peppermint flavor with a healthy smattering of crunchy bits and chocolate everywhere. There's just a certain magic from an icy cold peppermint treat. So good.
I think the mostly likely question in your head right now is: "Is it better than Haagen-Dazs peppermint bark?" and that my friends, is an excellent question. I think I would probably give the slight edge to H-D because of the white chocolate base, but let's be honest, I would be more than happy to inhale either pint. Excellent job Dolcezza!
C&CC: coffee gelato with chocolate covered Biscoff cookies plus sprinkles
Now you all know that I very rarely like coffee flavors, and I figured that I wouldnt take more than a bite of this and then have my daughter help me finish it.... but then I scooped out one of those cool looking, chocolate covered biscoff cookie bits while I took this picture. And then I put the pint away.... but I kept thinking about those cookie bits. I couldn't not officially try this one, even if it's just a small scooping.
I wound up enjoying my serving! Despite being a rich coffee flavor, all of the chocolate really did help balance things out for a non-coffee person like myself. I'm kind of tempted to have more, at least another small scooping.
Alrighty, that's it for now. Big thanks to Dolcezza for sending these over!
On Second Scoop: Oh no, the King Leo is almost gone! I tried pacing myself with two small servings, but then I had some trouble stopping on the third serving. There's just one serving left and if I eat it, then it'll be gone forever! (well, not literally forever, but for awhile)
Verdict? both excellent

Peppermint ice creams might be the best part of the Christmas season, that looks great.
