Flannel Cow Creamery

The other day, my coworker sent me a picture of himself holding the PB Blaster Sundae from Flannel Cow Creamery in Mansfield, MA. Any place that has homemade ice cream and serves something called a PB Blaster requires a visit.

(the animal crackers are a nice touch)

So my ice cream is on the left. It's one of their signature flavors they call "The Flannel". It's supposed to be sweet strawberry ice cream with Oreo, but that's no regular Oreo in there, it's something much better. It's some kind of wonderful, fresh, chocolate soft cookie that just breaks down and becomes one with the tasty strawberry base ice cream. Not as dense as a brownie, and not as light as cake, but also definitely not plain old Oreo wafers. Man it was good.

Note: every now and then I got a ball of crushed chocolate chip cookie mixed in. I'm guessing it was crushed chips ahoy that they use in a few of their other flavors. This is not a complaint, in fact, I enjoyed the occasional surprise texture change in the mix.

My wife's ice cream is on the right. It's a scoop of black raspberry chip on top of a scoop of cookie dough ice cream. She said both ice creams were delicious as well. In fact, we both agreed that this is the best ice cream we've had in awhile. The freshness, the flavor, and the texture were all on point. It's not that the other ice creams we had were bad, it's just that all three of these ice creams were distinctly delicious. Apparently my coworker has good taste in ice cream!

So, if you are in the area, I would definitely give this place a shot. Their prices are a smidge higher that some other local places, but it's definitely worth that bit of extra cash. Their website is here.

I don't know when we'll be back, but we'll definitely be back.

One final thought: 2 scoops is basically our default order wherever we go, but these two scoops were very filling. It's been over two hours and I'm still full!

  1. I recently tried B&J's Mousse Pie with the cookie swirl in it that was just delicious. Your description of the Oreo makes me think of that, sounds great.

  2. Try the Dirty Dough next time, that is my favorite! I live in Mansfield. Been reading your posts for awhile but I never realized you were in MA
