Ben & Jerry's Cookie Vermont-ster Sundae

[New for Early 2025] Even an hour and a half of moving heavy, wet, icy snow from the driveway can't dampen my enthusiasm for today's treat... ok, maybe it did a little because I am pretty tired, but I spent a good chunk of shoveling time thinking about this one, so let's dive in to...

Ben & Jerry's Cookie Vermont-ster Sundae
vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookies & chocolate cookie swirls topped with fudge-swirled whipped topping & fudge chips

I am a sucker for a fun looking treat. Call it a gimmick, but when done right (or even decently), I feel like a sundae inspired treat can brighten one's mood.

I was going to say that this whipped cream tastes like ice cream, and when I looked at it, I thought I saw an actual layer of vanilla ice cream. I guess I'm used to those super light and airy whipped creams that I've found in other sundae cups, but this one is much more dense.

Stepping back for a second, I figured this could go three ways. One, an offbeat chance that it would remind me of a a real Vermonster. Two, it could taste like milk & cookies. Three, it could just taste like a busy cookies and cream flavor. After these first few bites, I'm leaning towards #3.

Hold on, I need to break out the big spoon to show you how this looks.

To be honest, I'm not sure I fully understand this one. Don't get me wrong, it's certainly tasty and it's hard not to devour the whole thing in one sitting. The pint looks like it's only about two thirds ice cream, so it wouldn't take much to eat it all (though some regret and fullness might kick in after).

Like the new Haagen-Dazs flavor, I think I set my expectations too high. Yes, the ice cream is very busy and there is no lacking of flavor here, that's not the problem. This is a good treat, I think I just wanted a bit more pop and a bit more texture.

Again, this is very tasty, and I would say that it's a step up from the regular Milk & Cookies flavor, but I think it could have just one more ingredient to make it have a WOW factor. Besides the chocolate chips on top of the whipped cream, why not add some kind of crunchy topping under the whipped cream to add an extra #funfactor to the mix? I think Dulce-De-list and Turtle Sundae probably have that crunchy factor that makes me think it's a true sundae.

What do you think?

European Fun Fact: Different European countries have a mix of what we got this year, but I'm also seeing Brookies & Cream, Oh My! Banoffee Pie!, Marshmallow & S'mores, and non-dairy Oat of this Swirled... hey, wait, why does their Choco-lotta Cheesecake get chocolate whipped topping? I'm jealous! Here's hoping that these sundaes click in the US so that we can try these other flavors too!

On Second Scoop: I like it and I finished it, but I still don't think it pops the way that I expected. It just feels a little too one note to be a true sundae. Bah, this is probably just me holding Ben & Jerry's to a higher standard.

Verdict?  busy

  1. Many thanks for the different products available across the pond.

Wish we'd get some of those over here. Sadly Banoffee Pie seems unlikely, which is one I would certainly be interested in.

    1. no problem! it is funny how Europe is often ahead of what we get here.

  2. 14.4 ounces and then 1/3rd whipped topping feels very shrinkflation-y. The flavors are exciting but I'd much prefer 16oz of ice cream.

  3. I got all four flavors and my family liked them. We thought chocolate cheesecake was the best
