i really like the look of the cookie gelato, it makes me happy. Hmmmm, it has some texture to it and it does make me think of cookies... well technically it's reminding me of something that reminds me of cookies, but either way, I get the vibe.
Mmmmm, oh man, that cookie batter layer. It's basically a layer of cookie dough in the middle of the gelato and I want it to be more thicker and prevalent. Maybe next year we get one of these with two cookie layers! There's definitely a cookie batter aftertaste that lingers and that's just fun.
I've made it down to the soft chocolate cookie layer at the bottom and it definitely has an Oreo wafer vibe.
Now to get all the layers on my spoon, but I might have to scoop a bit more first.
Oh, the shortbread cookies are soft too. Unfortunately they are not evenly distributed so it's hard to scoop everything.... but if you do, yeah, this was is a lot of fun.
I think it's the chocolate cookies that really tie this one all together. The snickerdoodle version is a bit one note, but this one does a great job of bringing several tastes together. Sure, technically the chocolate cookies will be the dominate flavor of the scoop you take, but it comes together really well.
Nice job on this one Talenti. Now I just need to figure out what the top layer reminds me of...
On Second Scoop: I thought my second scooping would go better from the first, but the inconsistent layering took the wind out of my flavor sails. I still enjoyed it, but not the way that I should have enjoyed it. I didn't get enough batter or soft, delicious, chocolate cookies. Hopefully the final serving goes well .... FYI the final serving didn't go that well. There's something a bit weird about the cookie gelato, and I didn't really care on the first scooping, but when all the fun components ran out, the weirdness became more obvious.
Verdict? Can be very tasty

I think I'll have to give in and buy this or the snickerdoodle pint despite usually not doing so in protest of them refusing to make regular pints.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried eating these in a bowl? Getting the ice cream scoop all the way to the bottom is annoying, but maybe it would make getting a bite of everything easier.
Ha! Not a bad idea, but I've never suffered from the scooping frustrations that many have mentioned over the years. I even used to do a "big scoop" photo to show it was possible. That said, if the layers simply don't exist, then I cant get them all on my spoon, and that's what happened here. One layer might go to one side and the other layer might go to the other side. I don't know if they are trying to pump the pints out quicker or if it just depends on which layer material they use, but this pint certainly suffered from poor layering.
