[New for Early 2025] I was a little concerned that this next flavor appeared to be a Valentine's flavor and yet was seemingly absent from store shelves on Valentine's day. Well, I was at Walmart this morning (2/27) when I found a dented pint sitting amongst all the other non-new flavors. Thankfully I spied one more pint hiding far behind it, and that one wasn't dented. Let's finally dive in to a flavor that should be right up my alley.
Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream

Reminds me of a fun raspberry flavor.
Yes, I know many will think this boring, but I love strawberry ice cream.
Ok, it's pretty, but I did think it was going to have a stronger flavor.... though, granted, I'm on day five of a cold so maybe my senses are dulled a bit.
Ha, just ran in to a bunch of more "flakes"... excuse me while I waste too much time trying to photograph them.
to circle back, this feels very much like a black raspberry chip flavor. my brain looks at it and keeps expecting the raspberry flavor to kick in. It never does, but it's kind of weird/interesting how our brains can do stuff like that.
S, not exactly what I was expecting, though it does make sense. It's supposed to be chocolate covered strawberry, so there is lots of chocolate mixed in. I really would love more strawberry flavor though (but again, maybe that's me right now)
On Second Scoop: I finished this one up after two more servings, but that third and final serving had some extra strawberry sauce poured on top of it. I still think this one misses the mark on what I expected. Yes, it delivered lots of chocolate chunks, but it's chocolate covered strawberry, not strawberry flavored chocolate (I don't think that phrase makes as much sense as I want it to). Anyway, try it if you want, it's still Ben & Jerry's, and I finally saw it again on shelves today (3/12).

Seems uninspired if this wasn't intended to be a Valentines adjacent release. If it was then the rollout failed. I still haven't seen it locally. "Turn Out The Vote" is still occupying the limited-edition shelf space.
ReplyDeleteWow...you found one! I have searched for weeks for this elusive flavor.....buying the bigger pints and sundae flavors along the way. I'm kind of relieved to hear it's kind of a meh flavor in case I never strike gold with finding it. Now what I've heard I can't miss is the new cookie monster blizzard flavor at DQ...gonna make a trek this weekend to hunt that down.
